Gibson Ranch

Tucked away in McDowell Valley just east of Hopland and farmed by the Bilbro family. Vineyard plantings date back to the 1880s with many old vine plantings of Rhône varieties like Syrah and rare 110-year-old Grenache. Alluvial gravelly loam and climate that echoes Southern Rhône.
Mendocino is an amazing place to grow grapes and some of our most captivating wines are made from grapes harvested from this magical place. Although it may be more well-known for Anderson Valley and its production of cool and coastal-kissed wines, we source from the area’s more inland vineyards. Here, vineyards are tucked throughout Redwood Valley near Ukiah and along the Talmage Bench. This half of Mendocino has an interesting history too, where earliest plantings were by Italian immigrants during the Gold Rush and not earlier Spanish missionaries like many other parts of California.

The vineyards we source from in California’s northernmost winegrowing region are spread across the Mendocino AVA, Cole Ranch AVA, and Redwood Valley AVA, which has the biggest concentration of old vines in Mendocino.
